Death by Chocolate Cake
INGREDIENTS
- 4 flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 1/4 cocoa powder
- 3 tsp. Baking soda
- 3 tsp. Baking powder
- 6 eggs
- 2 1/2 c. solid coffee that is black
- 1 tablespoon. Pure vanilla extract
- 3 c. butter
Sugar
- 1 tablespoon. Pure vanilla extract
- 3/4 c. heavy cream (and more if required )
- 4 c. semisweet chocolate chips
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350°. Line three 8" round cake pans with parchment and spray with non stick cooking spray.
- Create cake. In another bowl, whisk the butter, eggs, coffee, buttermilk, and vanilla together. Whisk the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
- Divide batter equally. Bake until a toothpick comes out clean, about 35 minutes. Let cool completely on wire racks.
- Make frosting: In a large bowl beat sugar butter, cocoa powder, vanilla, and salt. Beat in thick cream (including more from the tablespoon until consistency is creamy but can hold peaks).
- Frost cake involving layers, then cover the cake. With your hands, cover the cake chocolate chips, if desired, with more. In the microwave, melt the chocolate chips drizzle chocolate over cake and serve.
